GIRL. I am always late. I literally have a small makeup bag in my purse and another one in my car FOR THIS VERY REASON.
Yes, I am always late but I am ALWAYS prepared.
Here’s what to do and what to use and what to ALWAYS have stock in.
IT Cosmetics CC Cream Illuminating
if you like a soft dewy look then definitely give their amazing CC a go. It’s so easy and applies so nicely with a damp beauty blender that it’s perfect for when you are in a bit of a rush. I like to mix mine with this moisturizer or this sunscreen and apply it with my hands. It goes on and applies similarly to a tinted moisturizer which I love since I don’t love the feel of a heavier foundation.
NC25 STUDIO FIX POWDER PLUS FOUNDATION
My good friend Shelby McElroy taught me this trick from a young age. She was always doing my cousin’s makeup and I was always so envious of how damn glamorous they looked. Finally, one day she was doing my makeup and told me to quickly buying the cheap sh*t and invest in good pressed powder. But NOT ANY PRESSED POWDER. She told me to buy this exact color and exact type - why? Because Studio Fix NC25 is the go-to for most MAC makeup artists. This shit not only covers whatever the hell you are trying to hide but it also is the perfect powder to set while still keeping some color on your face. It’s an absolute MUST if you haven’t tried it. I like to apply mine with a big fluffy powder brush.
BRONZER BRONZER AND MORE BRONZER
I don’t do blush. If I did, I would literally look like Cindy Lu Who from the Grinch. Upturned nose with rosy cheeks just isn’t my vibe ya know? So I heavily rely on bronzer to help me contour my cheeks, jawline and around my face. I love a good bronzer but I have fallen in love with Butter Bronzer after my best friend Molly showed me it. She loves a good deal and this bronzer is $7 on amazon! SAY WHAT?! Plus it smells like a warm summer day by the pool with a pina colada in your hand. So its a must in my book.
Highlighter
Another trick I learned from Miss Shelby. Highlighter is EVERYTHING. Want to glisten? Highlight. Want to pop your eyes? Highlight. Don’t have any eyeshadow and need a quick little pop to the lid? Highlight. No, but seriously. It’s everything and completes a daily look. I take mine and apply to my cheeks, my eyelids, the length of my nose and a little to the top of my lip where my Cupid’s bow is. I love BECCA cosmetics for their highlighter-but recently I have fallen in love with FENDI Highlighter. I love that it’s split down the middle and offers two different shades. This is a quick and easy application when you’re in a hurry so definitely invest in a highlighter that you love
Mascara and/or Brows
The final step. To quote The HouseBunny
“...the eyes are the nipples of the face.”
So don’t neglect them. I realize a large majority of women invest in eyelash extensions so I also wanted to include a quick brow product that saves my life almost every day. But first, Mascara. I have two that I have been jumping between lately. The first is CLIMAX by NARS. It’s heavy, its nice, and it is pure unsaturated VOLUME. If you are a lover of volume mascara - this is for you. If you are more on the simpler side and love a good wispy fresh and clean eyelash, go with Lash Stick from Glossier. Y’all Emily Weis is f*cking genius. She specifically designed this mascara to mimic the look of eye-lash extensions. Long, wispy and natural-looking. Plus, my favorite thing about Lash Stick is that it stays on ALL day, doesn’t dry up, and comes off easy. No more rubbing your eyes into the back of your skull anymore girl. Brows are next! CUE BOY BROW from Glossier. (Ya - so I am a huge fan of Glossier. It might be the marketing + branding guru inside of me but I also love everything that they stand for - #majorcrush). Boy Brow is the easiest and fastest way to give your brow some structure and color! It applies similarity to mascara and even kind of looks like a mini mascara but is in a gel form. They have a few colors but I love the brown. This stuff is again easy to apply, lasts all day and gives your brows a nice full lush look.
5 MINUTE MAKEUP ROUTINE
HOW TO LOOK GOOD WHEN YOU ARE RUNNING LATE. . .
So there you have it, ladies and gents. A quick 5-minute makeup routine. Keep it in your main makeup bag, your purse makeup bag, your car makeup bag, and hell even your mom’s makeup bag. I can promise you this, I have done this routine in an Uber, train, and airplane (Not even lying) and probably twenty-seven other places. It’s the best and will complete any look you are hustling to achieve!
